'Good Practice Principles - How do we know what they know?' WA-AALL symposium - 31 January 2011

Join WA-AALL for a one-day symposium on Monday 31 January 2011 at the Edith Cowan University's Joondalup campus. This symposium will address key concerns underlying the Good Practice Principles for English Language Proficiency for International Students in the context of the move from Good Practice Principles to mandatory Standards.

The key concerns explored in the symposium summarise the major issues that face institutions chronologically over their students' academic careers:

* How do we know whether they can participate effectively?
* How do we best help them to develop their language in an academic context?
* How do we know that they are sufficiently proficient for graduate employment?

This symposium will provide an opportunity for AALL staff to discuss the practical issues that are involved in implementing the Good Practice Principles, share experiences and move the debate forward.

Registration is FREE thanks to AALL sponsorship! For more information and to register, go to http://www.studentservices.uwa.edu.au/page/169199
