What are the strengths of this practice?:

Reach students who are in need.

What are the weaknesses?:

Some students use this service to check grammar and develop the dependency on this.

What improvements (if any) would you like to make?:

Make sure this is to develop skills and not to be used as a proofreading service. Some casual staff sometimes give in to students and just do what they are asked to do (proofreading). There should be a consistency among staff in providing skill development consultations so students do not have the expectation of using this opportunity to do grammar checks.

What approaches/theories of language and/or learning underpin this practice?:

Language as social practice.
